The Jewish Community Relations Council/AJC supports public advocacy efforts that ensure that vulnerable populations have access to quality resources. We do this in accord with traditional Jewish values that emphasize social justice and tzedakah, as well as our commitment to supporting the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit agencies which address poverty, the elderly and the disabled.

About 25% of individuals in Michigan are eligible for assistance from the Michigan Department of Human Services, showing that the need for these services is great. JCRC supports continued and expanded funding to Jewish community agencies across Michigan that provide an array of services in a spirit of social justice and preserving human dignity. These include:

  • Supportive services for the elderly
  • Supportive services for the disabled
  • Vocational training and career development
  • Employment skills and job placement
  • Immigration and citizenship services
  • Educational services
  • Financial aid for those in need
